Our CEO, Jewli Turier, delivered a presentation on "The State of Sales in the Franchising Sector" to a Franchise Council of Australia breakfast in Perth. The talk attracted a healthy mix of nearly 100 franchisees, franchisor executives and advisors. Jewli shared some of the findings from FRI's latest research into how sales are tracking in the franchising sector and what franchisors and franchisees are doing to combat margin compression. One interesting finding is that, while year on year sales are up 2.3%, industries are experiencing different trends. For instance, while retail food brands are down 1.3%, mobile and home service brands are up nearly 8%. Jewli also shared a number of practical strategies that franchisors and franchisees were using to boost sales at the local level.
